• ROCCAT Kone Pure Optical Review

Another mouse from the popular Kone series, and this time its name is Pure Optical. This model use high quality optical sensor. Although laser sensors are more accurate, there are plenty of those who still much more appropriate optical mice, and Kone Pure Optical is definitely at the top of the offer.

ROCCAT is a very interesting company which become quite famous among the players in a short time, because of large number of really great peripherals of which mice certainly are most important. Kone is series of mice that have existed for a few years and where we saw some of the best mice on the market. Pure Optical is a version that instead of laser sensor uses optical sensor, and this is perhaps unusual feature, but there are still plenty of players who like optical mice better. When it comes to design, ROCCAT has not changed it much, they just kept same good design. This mouse may not be as innovative as others, but it combines excellent features, good performance, and more than a good price.

ROCCAT Kone Pure Optical
Kone Pure Optical Mouse has dimensions of 7 x 12 cm and it weighs 90 grams, and it will suit to wider range of users, regardless of their favorite style of holding a mouse. This model is not symmetrical, but it is anatomically adapted to right-handed users, with soft-touch rubberized finish and rubbed sides, and because of that mouse firmly in your hand and do not slip, and we can confirm that it is build of high quality materials, and it can be compared with some of the best mice on the market. This model is one of the lightest Kone models, it is very pleasant to use, and although it maybe not has an attractive design as well as some other models we have seen before, it has a backlight that will solve that problem without major issues ( there are 16.8 million colors and some interesting effects available).

Although it can not be seen from outside, scroll wheel deserves attention, and ROCCAT calls it Titan Wheel. It is the wheel of the new generation, with a strengthed axle and improved sensitivity, with a scroll key which is of much higher quality than average mouse. On the top, next to the scroll wheel, mouse has two standard mouse keys (Omron switches), and there are two buttons behind it with + and – marks which can be used to adjust DPI value. On the left side, there are two thumb buttons, and all functions can be easily adjusted with software. On the bottom, mouse has two large feet, as well as centered optical sensor, which has maximum resolution of 4000dpi ( it can be adjusted in steps of 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000, 3200 and 4000 DPI). USB cable is braided with protective layer, it has length of 1.8 meters and it seems very durable.

Summary
Software for setup is pretty good and easy to use, with recognizable design (black background, neon blue frames), so you don’t have to spend too much time to adjust mouse settings. Of course, we recommend that you always use latest version available on the manufacturer’s site. This model supports Easy-Shift [+] function, which can be allocated to one of side keys, and this increase number of functions that can be easily activated. In addition, mouse has an internal memory so all settings can be saved even if you switch it to another computer. Overall, this mouse has great balance of price, performance and quality, and we recommend it to those who prefer optical models.
